Opal?

I've been trying to figure out what color Little Boy is, I'm thinking he looks a lot like an Opal??? I would love some thoughts on this!!!

If you need I can try to get some more pictures of him, he's being a bit of a drama queen at the moment :rolleyes: apparently he didn't like Mom being away for a week.

His colour is called GOSH DAMN ADORABLE.

His pattern is unusual in that the cream fills his face, from the pictures it looks like the pattern of a sable dog.
I'm leaning towards him being opal or possibly lilac-fawn.
If you can figure out the colors of the siblings and mother, that will help narrow down the possibilities for his coloring. If you need help color IDing them, post clear pictures and I'll see what I can do :)

Ankali - Lemme get some photos of Miranda (mom) and his two sisters, as well as an up to date picture of Little Boy, it seems like the blue/grey is actually filling in more over the cream. lol it's just going to depend on how much of a hissy fit he throws today ;) on the pictures

Also I wanted to add that this girl has darker red eyes as most of my hamsters do...actually, Little Boy and Nanashi are the only Campbell's I have that do not have red eyes.

And Little Boy is the only baby that has black eyes. There were two other babies in this litter that didn't make it :( at the time that they passed, they both had colorings that were kind of in between Girl 1 and Little Boys.

I'm so dozy! I just noticed I had already said how lovely he was on an earlier post. And yes looking up Campbells colours I haven't a clue I thought Lilac Fawn, then Opal just haven't a clue!

Could the girls be Dark Beige? I just read this
The Dark Beige has a dark beige coat to the roots with red eyes and flesh ears from the combination of Black, Black Eyed Argente and Argente.

Hmm...except he has black eyes...lol I find his coloring so confusing...all I know is that he's super cute and a love him to bits.

He is definitely either normal or opal. I can't tell if the lighting is affecting the tone of the color but over the next few weeks if he darkens, he's normal. If he turns more of a blue shade - he's opal. He appears to have a brown undercoat which would point to normal.
The problem with Campbell's colors is that there are many that are so similar. I don't work with any of the tanish shades (beiges, fawns, argentes) for this reason. And the variation in each color alone can make ID'ing a hamster from unknown lineage nearly impossible! They are all so lovely though!

haha yeah they are hard to tell the difference between...and Little Boy's coloring does change in the light, but he does have that light brown under the darker color, which turns to white on his underside. :rolleyes: He's my difficult boy.

He's normal then ;)
It's quite possible that carrying argente is causing him to be lighter than a normal that is not carrying anything. I have been seeing lots of these lighter normals over the last few years.

lol awesome :) I get so confused with colors, and it's hard to tell with some of them like you said.

What about Girl 2? I'm a bit stumped on her too...
