Hey!
sorry for lots of annoying threds recently.
Is grout safe for hamsters?
once set it is non toxic, i would be adding plastikote to it regardless for colour, but itl be waterproof.

Im just looking at ideas to make my natural looking set up, my other option is lots and lots of cork tunnels and bits. but it will be expensive.

I was going to build something like this for my gecko's but found my fish shop sold branches of drift wood that wasnt too much. but I want to build cave bits ect.

thank you for the advice!
Yaz

Grout itself is not toxic. It is usually the sealant that can cause concerns.

However, if it chewed or ingested, I think it could scratch their insides.

I wouldnt risk it to be quite honest.

Isn't there some sealant stuff that you can buy thats made for animal tanks? I'm sure I've seen it before somewhere.

What are you actually needing it for?

I was going to make a rock build for my gecko using grout. :) Gecko's don't really chew toys so it's okay for them but I wouldn't really risk it with a ham.

It was for making houses that look natural like the gecko ones.

however I have decided against this idea now, i agree totally with everyone its not worth the risk.

Im thinking of using lots of cork tunnels and pannels and bits instead. make tunnels and levels and lots of bits at angles to climb on and things. its much safer.
