SEDIT: just noticed this is in the wrong section..it should be in the ordinary RC not the whites...sorry.

Now you know how I managed to save 2 russians. It seems that they were male and female (this was after taking them to the pet shop to get sexed..never again).
I went about an hour ago to get them out to clean the cage and there was a pile of babies in the cage. Talk about shock. I replaced the shelf where they sleep and the cage top and sat back stunned. I had no inkling what so ever that there was a pregnant female.
Anyway seeing as I have not a clue as such to what Iam meant to do, some step by step advice would be very much greatly appreciated.

I know she gave birth within the last 48 hours.
I have read that the male can be left in to help, is this correct?
When should the male be removed to prevent rebreeding?

I have given some milk bread and egg along with extra seeds, anything else?

You are probably too late to remove the male as they will mate immediatly after birth and she will probably be pregnant again. The males can help but thefemales usually manage fine and it is a strain to keep having litter after litter. He may also mate with the daughters when they maure so I would advise you to remove him now and then feed the female very well with extra protein/ lactol milk etc to help her nurse andgrow the next pups. Get your homes lined up and prepare to sex and separate the pups at about 4 wks by which time she may well have another lot of babies in the nest  Good luck and congrats
