I would want a taller box to fit a decent sized wheel in it.

What sort of hamster is this for?

The second one is a lot better - it can fit a senior wodent wheel, platform etc. Also, the minimum size for a syrian is somewhere around 80x50 so it should be a good floor size :) Plus, it's only a bit extra cost-wise. Looking forward to seeing pics when it's finished! :)

For a syrian, you'd definitely want to go taller, especially because you might want to put a shelf/platform in. Syrians are big too and are good climbers.

I'd go for the second one to fit a bigger wheel in there. :)

Yep the Ikea one is a good size for a syrian. And it's tall enough that you can add a half-shelf or corner shelf for more space.
