I was out driving, and out of the woods came this little girl. She was wet (it's raining), dirty, and matted! She has a huge mats all over, but they are hard to see in the photos. We will be bringing her to the shelter tomorrow if we can get in, as it's not open, and if we can't, monday. So they can fix her up & find her a new home or her old one. I just hope she's been missing and they didn't really just not take care of her and let her get so matted.

She's very sweet, and is laying next to me on the bed right now! I'd keep her if a home didn't pop up, but female dogs don't mix well with our boys. I'm sure she'll find a new home fast being she's a cute, little thing! Plus she'll look better once cleaned up!

I'm going to be trying to coax my mom into letting me 'foster' her for the period in which you are to look for new owners (Which I believe is two weeks). As I'm just really sad about bringing her to the shelter, as the one we have to bring her to, I just hate! Then my friend is debating adopting her, or I'd be able to find a new home with someone I know, or maybe even myself.

Okay, it appears to be seven day, so 1 week, not 2!

Aww bless her. There's no choice but to clip or cut those matts out. They are so painful when left. She'll look so cute clipped so it wont be all bad.

We are bringing her up to the shelter today. :( My mom is being a pain about it, and doesn't want to keep her. Even as a foster.

I may see her this weekend when I go up to volunteer, so I will post pictures then of her fresh!

It seems no shelters can take her today, I gave her a bath though, to help her feel better besides the matts, and she looks alot better!

Alright guys, an update for ya!

We still have her! ^_^ The time up for needed to be kept to look for an owner is up, but I am not going to delete the ads or anything, just in case. I'll let them stay up.

As of now, we will be keeping her!

Here are pictures from last night!

I have a little question/concern/opinion thing, see - I have a guy who works at the animal shelter on my Facebook, and I one day messaged him asking if anyone was looking for a dog like her, and he said no, so I just mentioned for him to keep an ear & eye up.

Well, tonight, he tagged himself in the album with her pictures, as in to get her out there, you know? BUT, this isn't what I want, I want her look to not be seen by people.

This is in case someone is just looking for a free dog, you know? I posted an ad on Craigslist just saying, "Found small dog out in the rain, email to identify!", so that the people would come to me, and tell me a description of the dog they were looking for. That way, I could just say yes / no, and wouldn't have the worry of people looking for a cute little dog for free!

I dunno, maybe it's making me mad because he didn't even ask, and now I feel if I were to untag him he'd say this & that and she could somehow have to be taken to the shelter. I don't know if they can really do that though, since I've had her the time, as of today, that she is to be held to have an owner found.

I think it's be fair for you to write to him and explain the reasoning behind not posting the dog's photos. You could use some other criteria to determine if people who respond are the dog's owners (like the dog's collar, some distinguishing color details that aren't immediately obvious, pictures of them with the dog, etc.)

The last photo looks like the dog is grinning widely.

She looks stunning now and a very happy little pooch. I would untag him and explain why. That sort of dog is very attractive and may well be 'claimed' by someone seeing those pics.
I wonder if she has been spayed? What age do you think she is? You just never know if she has hopped in a van and travelled a distance but really any responsible owner would have her chipped or at least an id tag on her.
I think you have a new dog :) What do you call her?

KatiePillow
06-25-2011, 01:11 AM
I'd untag him too, it's the same as how my parents just put our surname and number on our dogs collar, because if somebody learns the dogs name it's much more convincing that they're the real owner if they know the name.
I'd stick to what you were doing, because there are people who'd claim her even though it wasn't hers (a boy at my school reported his ipod as missing, when he didn't even have one, he just thought that if one got turned in, he'd get it)

What a gorgeous doggie! She's so lucky an animal lover spotted her with such an interest in her welfare :) I don't think it's unreasonable for you to ask him if you can untag him... You do have perfectly valid reasoning :)

Aww she's so cute. Who could leave such a pretty little dog?
I'd untag him. I've done that with cat pics before, had to untag people. It's reasonable.
My cats are chipped and have special collars I made X3 They've got my name on them just in case.

Thank you all for the response guys. I did untag him, and I don't think he even noticed, so I left it at that. I think I was making a bigger deal than needed, but when finding her owner, I just worried alot with people wanting a free dog, and being her not spayed - puppy mill looking for another dog. Although, I didn't mention that or it can't be noticed, but you never know!

No picture update quite yet, as I will be posting ones I've taken in the past few days of all my little dogs in a new thread, BUT:

She plays, finally! She loves tennis balls - both mini and normal size, and a yellow volleyball we have. She wants to play with the other dogs too, but she just doesn't seem to know how yet, haha. She'll sit and paw at them, but won't know what to do next. Simba is a little loud, and rough, so that could be throwing her off too. We have to keep him in check by telling him to calm down, she's not a boy, lol! She is in love with the cat! She is VERY interested in the birds and hamsters too, but I don't think she'd hurt them, but we aren't taking the chance. But yeah, so far she's fit in great! She doesn't seem to know any commands ... or just doesn't respond. So, I'll be seeing what I can teach her, as I've been trying to teach just sit, and it's been a bit rough, haha.

I haven't been too active on here anymore (Once the hamsters passed, I just haven't ventured on as much as I used to), but I was going through my old threads and noticed you'd all posted recent, so thought I'd better respond!

Jazzy is still with me, yes! She ended up getting along great with our boys in the end, and loves to play and be a brute to Simba. She's gained a lot of confidence since first coming here, and likes to play more rough and goofy now!

She was spayed, has been getting haircuts on the regular (as her hair grows very fast!), still working on training her even after a year! She just really does not take things in, and has only learned sit. At least she is potty trained though, lol! If anything, I can only ask for that!

Besides being not an easy dog to train, her only other problem is she is a puker. If she eats and drinks even a little too quick, she'll puke. She pukes on car rides. Most treats and chews she can't have, because she pukes them up (there are a couple things she can stomach okay, so she still gets goodies with the others!). She just has a weak stomach!

She's a very sweet dog though, and although not the easiest in some areas, I'm glad we still have her, too cute!

Here are some new pictures, also, just taken in the past couple weeks, after going to the groomers!:

What a wonderful update. :)

It seems she has been really fitting in with your family. My corgi mix has a sensitive tummy, too, so I know what it's like to have a puker. I'm not sure what foods you have already tried or if her food is even the problem, but the ONLY ones my corgi X can hold down are Blue Buffalo Wilderness, Wellness, and Solid Gold. I had tried almost every brand under the sun - both store brand and pet store brand. It can be hard having a dog with a sensitive stomach. I have to be extra careful what I feed her and how much, as I'm sure you do with Jazzy. As far as training goes, I'm sure you'll get there. Some dogs just take longer than others. My sister is still working with her Pomeranian after a year, too. I love the updated pictures. You can hardly tell that's the same dog that was in the pictures from last year. She's looks so much healthier and happier. :)

Reminds me of our Franklin...although she sounds brighter than him! She's precious!!

Frankie is a puker...and a poo eater...and a nervous pee-er...and he's just plain dumber than a box of rocks. I love him though!
