Hi everyone. I know i havent posted on here for a long time but i have some horrible news. Steve has passed away tonight.

I came home from work and checked on all my pets and noticed Steve (the robi hamster) hadnt eaten anything last night (he hadnt been eating much for a few days but put it down to the weather) and he wasnt in his bed. I lifted his house up and noticed he was hunched behind it.

Since i got Steve we have never been able to touch him, he hated humans and today i picked him up for the first time. I think he started to fit and his tummy was soaking wet with urine. I took him straight to the vets and they noticed he was also very cold like he was in hibernation. He had no lumps and nothing to show why he was ill. They kept him in a put him on a warmer to see if he would perk up but he passed away in the vets hands : Crying or Very sad

I feel so bad as i dont know how long he must of been like that. I know he is at peace now but i am so gutted and feel so guilty. If only i had checked before work i may have been able to do a little bit more for him.

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss.
I think he waited for that last farewell to show you that he had enjoyed sharing his life with you.

Thank you everyone. It has been hard to get over the shock of Steve as it just happened out of no where. With Goose he got ill over 2 weeks :( I hate looking at where his cage should be :( We had to move it very quickly so the kids could get over his death. My yougest cried for days when we lost Goose :( It has made me think about how long i may have with some of my other hamsters. Dexter and Bella are over a year old now and i think the chinese hamsters must be coming up to 1 1/2 to 2 years old now :( (The person i got them from thought they were over a year old when i got them). Its horrible Hamsters are with us for such a short time :(
