Hey. I have posted some pics of Illidan earlier but just in the thread about his dollhouse. I think he deserves his own thread. :) I'd like to show you his new cage(s) aswell, which I got last tuesday.

Illy was born in week 40 - 2010 and is a hybrid from the Swedish pet store Arken Zoo.
This is one of the first pics of Illy. He's so evul eating his sunflower seed. I know about the wheel! He had that one for a week or two until he got a bigger one.

This is Illy fighting the big and monstrous cucumber. Paw!

And Illy in his tiny food bowl. It is not his usual food bowl, I used that one for the fresh food. I don't use the crappy bedding in the background anymore.

Illy's old set up in the Mini Duna. I made the shelf out of carboard and toilet rolls as legs. I had a plastic ladder going down from the shelf. Nothing special about it. It doesn't look very fun.

I got all of this for £69,60 through a swedish sales site (Blocket) from a girl whose hamster recently passed away. The cages were used for a syrian hamster. It's a Ferplast Laura and a Ferplast Duna Fun. There's bite marks on the bars and scratches inside of the tubing but otherwise it's as good as new. I don't know whether I will be using the second cage or not, he may not even use it. Is it too big?

I decided to try the second cage out. Even without the second cage it's quite a difference. Illy seems to be happier. If he's happy then I'm happy. :)

I'd like to hear your thoughts about the cages. Please tell me if there's something weird in my cage that shouldn't be in there or whatever. :)

That's awesome! Illy is such a lucky ham to have a caring owner :) I would look into getting him a new wheel though, since the meshed ones give them sore feet or bumblefoot. Or you could just cover it up with a strip of cardboard from a cereal box :)

Removing the black wheel straight away! :) He's got two wheels now, so he will still have one until I fix it. I've been thinking about the wheel. I clearly asked the staff of the pet store if it would be dangerous in any way for dwarf hamsters. Bah! Another thing they lied about. Really, four things and counting. I understand people in other stores lying about stuff just to get more money, I'm not stupid. But when my pet could actually get hurt... that's just cruel. ><

Thanks for being honest. ;)

That is a lovely upgrade for Illidan! You could try using the second cage by connecting it and see if she likes it all together, but the cage where she is in now should be enough.
You could try getting a silent spinner for her, the 6,5'' one, they are lovely and nearly don't make a sound!

He has been more active in his new cages, exploring alot, carefully sneaking through the tubing. :p
I have been thinking about getting a silent spinner but I would have to order it from the UK. Most stores doesn't even send stuff to Sweden. (:

Zooplus.com delivers to Sweden, although they don't have silent spinners, but have got the Karlie Wonderland Wheel... :/

Cage looks a nice size for a dwarfy. One thing to be careful about if you do connect both cages is that dwarves can't climb in tubes very easily because they have furry paws, so no steep (big) angles.

And I love the pic of him sitting in his bowl! ^_^

Aww, thanks!
I have seen the Karlie Wonderland Wheel in Sweden, I don't know about the wood. :/
What do you think about this one? It's £7 for a 20 cm wheel, which is kinda cheap for being Sweden. It looks really noisy, tho! :(

About the tubes, this is how I connected them. I tried to keep it as short and "flat" as possible. I have seen him walk through the left connection but I don't know if he can handle the right one.

The lower one is really steep. I tried to make it less angled by putting a house under it, but it's still very steep. I'm unfortunally out of the curved tubing. I need to put a house or something between the floors aswell.

His cage looks great, Illidan is so cute :)
I am sure DwarfNome had that wheel but changed to the karlie one?

Yep amy is right :) I would not reccomend the one you linked (which is called a "Nobby" wheel) If your looking for a silent wheel. I checked all the ones in my local pet store and they were all noisy. I think it's something wrong with the whole range because at the swede forum peeps with that wheel has had to bend it for themselves so they wouldn't make so much noise. I even think I got it cheaper, plastic wheels shouldn't be expensive  But I paid £20 for my 20cm karlie :???:

Oh well, I got a Savic Rolly 19 cm for free with the cages, it's quite noisy but it will do until I can afford a new one. :)
