I would like to know how our users ended up coming across hamster central. It would be neat to see how the word is getting out, be it through a web search or perhaps word of mouth.

Please take the time to fill out the poll. You are also free to comment with more specifics if you like. :)

I'd had Conker for awhile and she'd got sick and I was looking on the web for helpful remedies. Search engine found HC and PWS and I joined both. I'd probably never have found you otherwise as I only really use my pc for work and email......

Thanks Suga and Leigh. I've been wondering how we were doing on the results pages of search engines. On occasion I try and do a search for HC using basic key words about hamsters, but hamster central never seems to show up... or else its like down 10 or more pages of the search results. :? Id be interested to know what specific key words people used in searches to bring up a link to HC.

I was looking for a hamster breeder and came across this forum via a search engine. And will you just look at what has happened to us, all in the space of less than a week...found Pophammy and Souffle, went to Harrogate Show and met them and Cathy, found a hammy for Aidan, sorted out its cage etc and now awaiting hammy's arrival. Oh the wonders of modern technology :D

But no the wonder I'm shattered :D

Hiya,
I found HC by typing in a few keywords relating to hamsters and adding 'forum' on the end, and searched in Google. I'm in the process of preparing for a new hamster :D , and I find that forums give the best advice as its all personal experience and not just copied from another webpage. For example, I've been researching products like cages, wheels etc and forums are the best place to get reviews as they're unbiased. If I just typed in 'hamster cage' or even 'hamster cage review', you tend to get loads of ads or retailers - and most don't have customer reviews anyway.
If you type in 'hamster forum', then Hamster Central is at the top of the list, and that always looks good. It shows that the site was programmed properly, in terms of how Google finds it. The site pages themselves come across as well-put-together too, so that has a major impact on whether you spend a lot of time on it. Worked for me - I just registered!! :)

I found it via Google, looking for info after buying new pets for my daughter. I looked at several sites and this was my favourite. And still is.

I've used this site to tell me about housing, health issues, nutrition, the lot really. I've nicked the idea of having advertising hoarding boards to make a playpen. I've changed cages. I've altered diets. I've taken my middle boy to the vets. And I've come to love my hammies more and more.. Sad aren't I???

Hello,
I am new to Hamster Central and found it doing a search for Hamster Agility on google. I have had hamsters for many of the years of my life. I just bought another after quite a little wait. I am picky and am glad I waited to buy Uic, who I bought pregnant....a PLANNED pregnancy. She is sweet, tame, easy going and very pretty! We now have eight hamsters, as planned. A few are spoken for and we will keep the rest. I plan to train at least two.

I have only been a member for about a day and already a fan for life, I joined as I had a traumatic experience with my week old Syrian Hamster Poppy, I won't go into details but I honestly thought that my perfect little Poppy would never approach us again the advise that i have been given by fellow members was fantastic and I am optomistic that the hamster/human bond has not been lost. I will definately keep in touch and hopefully in the not too distant future i will be able to add Poppys face to my profile.

I used to read threads on HC for info about various topics when I was looking for information about Gloria. When she became sick last spring I got very useful information about baby food and oatmeal as food options because she was getting too weak to crack seeds.

I joined shortly after losing her because I knew I was going to have many more hamsters in my life after the wonderful relationship my OH and I had with her. (she literally held our relationship together at times because we were both too attached to her to walk away from our relationship and apartment together...and she would get vocal if we argued, as if ordering us to stop!)

I was doing some research before starting my own hamster website and came across HC via Search Engines...

Popular forums such as HC are always going to feature well within search engines due to the sheer volume of content that the user community creates. The down side is that it is very easy to outrank them as they do not adopt effective Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) strategies...

Take this for example...

If you Google the term "What can I feed my Hamster" - pretty generic question and a popular question among hamster owners. My website Happy Hamster usually appears second on the first page of Google and attracts over 500 visitors per month alone - admittedly the article is not very good and does not really cover a great deal (I need to work on this) but I know how to increase search engine rankings. There is much better info on HC if you take the time to browse the forum but no real presence for this popular question...before anyone points this out yes there is a HC listing at the bottom and yes I did start it :)

Hamster Central is a great forum and to be honest the best hamster resource on the internet (trust me I have researched this a lot!!!) - I am not sure how much traffic it gets on a monthly basis but I know it could do better if there were some subtle changes and some more targeted Internet Marketing

I was upset, after days or weeks, trying to log on to my other hamster site,& seing that its been closed for maintenance. So i searched for other sites, then chose this one. Im a Hamster fan, hobbyist, and i can truly admit that im amazed by hamsters intelligence! I wish i knew about this site when my little Benbo passed away a couple yrs ago.the support from other hamster fanatics would be comforting! Its hard to explain to others, why a 42 yr old man is crying because his hamster past away! Feel free to snicker, because we're all on the same page here.I look forward to meeting all the big hearted fans here on hamster central. I was a gerbil hobbyist as a kid & did some breeding as well.I was a responsible kid, that also raised a few hamsters, i quickly noticed big differences between both critters.but loved them all the same.As my teen yrs started climbing, girls,& guitars became priority! So my buddies took over my gerbil family & buisness.yrs later i moved to Los Angeles from Vancouver Washington. Looking for part-time work for day,so i could play clubs at night.i applied @ pet stores & saw those fuzzy hamsters
