Hi

I have been having a rake around on the web and I can see some of you are moderators on other forums. How do you become moderators? Just curious really.

thanks :)

The current moderators are myself, Babyboo's, Souffle and Emma. Pophammy moderates the photo contest topic.

Unfortunately Emma inst as active as she use to be. I think shes busy with school and other life things. Dont hold it against her though.. she's contributed quite a bit in the beginning and Im sure would be here more often if she could be. :D

I choose moderators as I need them. Their purpose is to help keep the forum topics and threads organized, keep on top of new posts, welcome new members and help people out with whatever questions they have to the best of their knowledge.

If I am ever looking for a moderator, I keep and eye out for those who show a great enthusiasm for hamsters and for hamster centrals cause. I look for someone who's active on the forum. Most importantly I'm looking for people mature enough to handle touchy situations and who are personable and friendly. I also would like them to have enough experience and hamster knowledge.

So if anyone is ever interested in this job and I'm on the look out, keep these things in mind ;) Its likely I would discuss it with my mods first and come to a vote as to who we think would be the best candidate.

I enjoy moderating very much. I had been on the forum for more than a year when I was very surprised and pleased to be asked. I enjoy helping people through their problems and try my best to find out anything I am not sure about. It is not a job for some people who might find it difficult to tell people things they might not want to hear but I like to think I do my best. It is also important that you check in as often as possible and read all the posts so is quite a responsibily but very rewarding in my opinion.

Thanks for answering my question. Its one I've been thinking of asking for ages. I like to think of you all as angels - looking after us and our hammies... 0:-)
