Snuggleham--Thanks for your reply about donations. I thought I would post this topic to forum (let me know if there's already one that I couldn't find) so that other interested users could get more info. You said that I could make a donation via PayPal to your e-mail address. Should I do this using US dollars or some other form of money :?:

I believe the sender has the option to pick what sorts of funds they want to send it in. So as you go though the process of sending via paypal just look for that. I'm in the US, so US funds would be my best bet ;)

the way the exchange rate is currently it is a good time for those in the UK to donate if they can as Candace receives more dollars for our pounds than normal.

This is just what I was talking about. You should have a paypal link for people to donate too.

Have you ever thought of advertisements snuggleham? You can earn big bucks from people who want to advertise on your website, and that money can go towards updates for HC! :D

Well we decided not to put a direct paypal link, but if people contact me about it I can give them the information they need to donate.

HC already has been using advertisements. I guess you haven't noticed them on the bottom of the pages lol. Each time someone clicks on an ad we earn a few cents. But the thing is.. we don't get any of what we earn until we reach 100 bucks. I've had the ads up for months now and we haven't even hit 30 dollars. The trick is to get more people here and up the popularity of the site I think.

just clicked the links - that's a few extra cents to go into the Hamster Central piggybank.

We are currently with www.doteasy.com (http://www.doteasy.com) While they are a wonderful hosting provider we are paying $95.00 US dollars a year and 25 dollars a year for our domain name. Its becoming a huge expense with my artist website on doteasy as well which we pay the same amount to keep it running.

Smoo fund out about another hosting provider called www.godaddy.com (http://www.godaddy.com). They offer all the services we would need and the cost will only be $45.07 a year, this also includes the domain registration. :)

We are hoping to have most of $45.07 expense covered with donations by February 1st when our hosting service expires with doteasy. We will pay for HC out of our own pockets to keep it running. But any donations afteroords would be helpful. Times are tough and we are doing our best to budget our home and daily expenses. Even if a donations comes after it will certainly help us where we have put that extra money into hamster central and have less for groceries

Bah, this crazy world! But I love my HC and id rather be tight on cash and pay for hosting rather then loose the site and have someone snatch up the hamster central domain name while we are down and out. That would defiantly not be fun :?

So if those of you have visited HC and found our community and information to be helpful, and you have the means to spare a few bucks, donate to show your appreciation!
