just posting these pictures of him are difficult for me, because i just took them last week. :(

booboo is gone. he somehow escaped within the last 24 hours without me noticing. i thought he was asleep until i noticed he hadn't come out of his hut in a while, so i lifted it up to find out he wasn't in it anymore. i only realized this an hour before i had to leave for work. imagine trying to work as a sales associate when you're constantly wondering if your poor hamster is alive and safe.

i kept calling my boyfriend to ask him if he had found booboo, but he hadn't. so i brought my friend from work home with me to help me try to find him, and we did find him... behind the stove. he had apparently bitten into an electrical cord and died. he was just a baby. i only had him for about a month, but i already know i don't want to replace him. i know i'll never find a hamster as amazing as he was, and it kills me. i can't believe he's dead. is it stupid to cry over a hamster? my heart is broken. i miss him so much...

whenever people's hamsters escape, they always end up finding them safe and sound. i wished that happened in my case.

r. i. p. booboo, you will be missed. it's not fair. :(

thank you, everyone. the pet store i got him from was so helpful. they're getting some more babies soon, so i might go take a look at them soon. i'm not sure, though... i'm scared i'll never find a hammy as amazing as he was. booboo was my first hamster, but i enjoyed him as a pet so much that i know i want to keep another one. the first time i held booboo at the pet store, he peed and pooped on me right away. <3

he did have a lovely life; it's just too bad he wanted to escape! ironically, his desire for freedom ended his life. :(

sorry to hear about Booboo - he was a little cutie.

I thought the same about 'replacing' my Little Mo when she passed away this year. She was unique and I knew I could never find another hamster like her - but, I rescued a little hammy soon after as I couldnt leave her, and she has brought me so much joy and help filled a very big hole. I was worried about replacing Mo, but then people on here told me that Little Mo will be pleased that I am offering a new hammy such a loving home - and I am sure Booboo will be thinking the same xx

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Sometimes a little adventure claims our hammies too soon.
You never replace a hammie but your heart does grow to accomadate a new and unique little life. You will know when you are ready to share your life with another hammie.
Play well Booboo

thank you so much, everyone, for understanding how it feels. none of my friends in real life understand. they think it's "just a hamster," you know? this forum is so amazing, and so is everyone in it. :)

No, its not silly or sad to cry for the loss of our beautiful little friends. Me and a few others have also lost hamsters in the last couple of days and personally, I have been sobbing since last night and though I was doing quite well until we got into the vets room and was pretty hysterical for about an hour!!! I have also got a huge amount from the other guys and girls in this forum, it really is a fantastic support network.

As for getting another hamster, I think we all take our own time, there is no right or wrong answer. After losing my gerbil I went about 6 years before I felt ready to get another pet, but now I feel in time that I'd like to adopt a little abandoned hamster who really needs love.

I'm glad you like it here :)
