I think I have decided on a breed!

Seeing as I have posted in this section, I have decided to get a winter white! :-D What are they like as a breed and what are the colours of them? Thanks! :-D

idk about having them as pets but colourwise they come in Agouti (like normal, dark grey and white with 3stripes), Sapphire (grey(ish) and white) and Pearl (like a ww in its winter coat all the time)

Saaame lol if i got a ww i'd have to get a Pearl :D But it does mean you miss out on the possible colour change which is cool !

You can get Sapphire Pearl too which is a nice colour. I'm picking up my Pearl boy on Sunday and I can't wait! :D

I would reccomend especially with winter whites wherever you get him, ask to hold him first. Not all WW's are like this, as my friend and I had one who was the nicest little guy you ever met, but in my experience they can range in personality. I almost got one but the lady warned me that they were nippy. I wanted to hold one anyways and sure enough the one I wanted just kept biting and biting and biting. Now I could have taken him home anyways and slowly tried to socialize him more, which can work, but if your younger and unexperienced with hams you might not want to take the gamble, I would go for a WW that has a nicer disposition. So bottom line, make sure you old him before you buy him, and don't buy him necessarily because he's the best looking one, make sure he has a good personality to match! Good luck! Are you going to get you new one from a breeder or pet shop? most petshops WW are hybrids (so a mix of cambells and WW) and you can get lots of colors!

Sooooooo cute! I love the bit on the website from the link above saying that Winter Whites are 'big babies' this is so true with Noodles! You will have so much fun with a WInter White, and maybe they will walk on their back legs too! Haha! :-)

I know this as he is argente in colouring (which pure winterwhite do not come in)

Although his colouring is campbells he certainly has a winterwhite body shape and size :)
I find him to be the most lovable chap, always ready for a cuddle and sleeps a lot.
Obviously every hamster is different but every winter white i have met has been lovely so i think you've chosen a great species!

Not a pet shop. If one pops up in a rescue, then perfect! :-D But if not, I will go to a breeder. :)

have you tried gumtree and preloved? i just found a lovely pair of campbells and now feel like a big mean evil person lol, but there might be some near you? and have you checked the p@h adooption centre bit? theres often some lovely hammies in need of homes theere !! Goodlcuk finding some x

I would imagine so, as the other colours will turn white in winter but a pearl is already white to start. :)

WW are by far my favorite, any that I have come accross have been the most nice, and just love to crawl up into your hand once they are tamed! Heres my two WWs, Lola and Robey!
