Question: Do you think he is too fat? Does he need to lose some weight? Here is a body shot:

What do you think?

I believe you already asked this question. You started a poll about it when you posted an introduction to the forum. Everyone who posted seemed to think he was a fine weight. I still think he looks healthy. My hamster is just like yours only female. She an impressive sized ham as well.

Its was suggested that you try and weigh your hamster if your not sure. If you recall your introductory post where you asked this question someone suggested a kitchen scale. You mentioned you would try and find one, have you been able to?

If we could see the amount he weighed we could tell you without a doubt if Carmelo was to heavy or not.

He looks just fine to me. He is at an age where he will be at his peak weight and condition. Usually hammies lose a bit of weight as they grow older. I would not worry. As long as you are feeding him a balanced diet he will eat the right amount for his bodies requirements.

I haven't been able to get a scale yet, but I'm sorry for reposting the topic, thanks for your advice!

Looks around the same size as Hammis, When Hammis was 3 to 4 months old she was so little, and now she has nearly doubled in size (10 Months)

Our little ones grow up so quick these days!!!!

He looks of a fine size to me. In shows hamsters are meant to weigh between 180 and 220g, but that is very big for the average petshop hamster. Ours range from between 150g and 210g, but we have had hamsters at 120-130g who lived a very happy life!
