I found a couple of baby male WWs today. The owner recommended I seperate them - which was a heartbreaking ordeal watching them try to find each other afterwards - so I came away with this little fellow. Meet Utsukushii (Japanese for "beautiful", nicknamed kushi)!

He's very tame and not phased by passing hands, but is a little wary of climbing on. After exploring the tank he's settled for sitting in the hamster wheel the last couple of hours. I'm starting to feel really guilty for seperating the siblings - he looks depressed :(

Adorable though, don't you agree?

Aaawww he is so cute, he has great big eyes, just like mine. Say hi to him! Dont worry, its probably for his own good, he would probably end up wishing for his own room anyway;)

Is there a reason for the seperation? Winter Whites are social...
cute none the less.

He does, doesn't he? He definitely seems to love his wheel - spent most of the evening hopping in and out of it! As for the castle, every time I put my hand near one edge of the roof he climbs atop and runs over to sit on it :)... and try to climb up my arm, which I think is probably his main motive.

@Starrylight Yup! He's sitting on his bum with his feet sticking out. I've got about 200 pics of that already :P

@Winterbell I was going to take the two of them but the owner pushed me to seperate as, in their experience, the male pairs always ended up fighting eventually. I've heard differing opinions from everyone it seems, and since it's my first time I've found myself playing it safe, but not without plenty of guilt - this little guy is going to have tons of freerun time with me everyday in our hammy proof bathroom. The staff seemed to love them though, so I placed my trust in their judgement.

I went aaaaah when i saw the wheel pics. I'm so excited as I'm picking a couple up next month (silent squeal). I think he will perk up very soon, just not used to be alone. I've even had a syrian girl who was sad for a couple of days after leaving her sisters even though they would certainly of hated each other eventually. As long as you give him loads of attention he should be fine. :)

He's become very tame now - running up to sit in my hand, letting me stroke him while eating, playing tug-of-war with his chew ball and even lets me help him with his bedding (I felt a bit guilty after the first clean out). Funny thing though, he prefers to use his potty for grooming and chewing on the litter, and I can't for the life of me find where he's been peeing. Or poo for that matter. I've seen the odd pellet, but usually there's nothing there. Is this normal?

Also he doesn't seem to like sand - got some in his eye and went beserk, the poor little fella.

Mmm - thats puzzling . . .

Boris, my dwarfie, does loads of little poos, all over the place and he has a wee corner too.

Most of the poos though tend to end up in his nest, does his nest not have any poos in either?

Ahh - what a little cutie - that pic of him sat on his bottom is priceless :p

Love his name too and how it came about, I did something similar when I got my Russian Dwarf - looked up Russian baby names and Sascha was the only one I could pronounce, so it just had to be :D
