I was reading through some threads and there was a mention of giving a hamster an egg carton as a toy. I did some searches on here, but couldn't find what I was looking for. I was just wondering how you spice it up a bit for your hamster pleasure? lol. Put holes in it or something? I'm going to have an empty one soon, and thought it might be fun to experiment.

Pictures are always appreciated. :)

Thanks in advance!

heya, i dont have any pics but i used to stand it on its side, cut a few holes out and push toilet tubes through it :) also you can just push a few pen holes, put some smelly food or treats in and close and watch hammy destroy it to get inside! x

It has to be the paper/cardboard ones you use. You realy just lay them in and let them climb around and chew them.
It is recommended that you put these in the microwave on high for 30secs just in case there are any bird mites or germs on them as this sterilises them.

Thank you! I was wondering in class this morning (it was a pointless class!) how to make sure it's clean - that does it. Woot! And hams like scrambled eggs too, don't they?

Peggy loves egg cartons!
She ripped all the inside out and used it for her nest

If a carton has egg white on it from an egg cracking then i'd probably avoid using it though.

Maybe a relative, friend or neighbour might have a cardboard one to spare fairydae?
