Default New Changes to Hamster Central

Well! I'm sure you already knew there were changes the moment you came back to the forum! We have allot of great new features here on the updated version of PHPbb, some of these new features include the use of signatures! (you can opt to turn the viewing of signatures off on your user control panel- found at the top of the forum under the logo) We also have the ability to upload pictures directly to the forum from your computers! No more third party hosting woe's. There really is a tone of things I need to tell everyone about, and I plan to have an extensive tutorial on how the forum works, and where all the new features are, but right now I am very tried!

Smoo and I spent a good few hours getting this forum ready to update, and also getting the new website up. Yes the main content of HC has changes and we are now using wiki software. For any of you who have bookmarked only the forum, you can get to the wiki by clicking the tab at the top of the forum, above the logo where it says "Wiki"

Sorry it seems the avatar images were lost, you'll just have to upload new ones.

The old profiles feature is now gone, but there have been some great additions to the forum profiles with custom fields to fill out that can personalize your profile a bit more. The classifieds is also gone, but I intend to bring that back to the forum, that topic will be coming along shortly once I hash out the details.

We will also figure out a place for hamstery ads.

If you any problems or questions please post them here. Some questions may go answered since much will be explained when I post the tutorial for how the forum works.

I definitely like it, my only thing is I wonder if there's a way to change the board colour? I don't like green and on the old one I set it so it was purple. If it's not possible, then don't worry, I'm not gonna run away because of it, I'd just like an alternative colour!

BVMark is unimpressed! It is probably a glitch with his laptop but he can now only read the first 5 lines of any post!! When he clicks on new posts he only gets the top third of each line so can't read it at all.
He would be grateful if anyone has the answer to his problem!! His laptop is a Panasonic CF71 Toughbook running on Windows 2000.

Unfortunately you cant change the theme color. That was something Smoo programmed up himself for the users. It was another one of those things he would have to hack out every time the forums software needed to be updated and he was tired of it. The plan was to make everything simple in terms of having to update. We need to Update with each new PHPbb version release to make sure the site is secure, and updated on all bug fixes.

I thought green was a suiting color, it comes off as feeling "happy" plus is the color of nature :P I guess ya cant win em all! There may be a possibility in the future that we could download other templates to use that people can choose from in their User Control Panel. But in those cases, not only would the color change, by the layout of the forum.

It's looking good.. but I really don't like the avatars etc on the right hand side.

The signature sizes are a bit small..60 pixels high? That's smaller than an av..

Profile info on the side is how the forum template came. It was downloaded, we didn't make it. So thats where the avatar/user information will stay. Like I said above to another comment about color. Its possible that in the future we can download other templates people can choose from in their User Control Panel. I will ask Smoo about it. I'm not sure how willing he will be to dive back into that stuff after working very hard on getting this all updated. He may like a break

Signature sizes are a common web banner size, 60 pixels tall by 468 pixels wide. The reason for this is the forum doesn't look cluttered with junk. Varying sizes of signature images can be distracting, and to be quite honest, I cant stand that.

There is an example of the size. I think its plenty of room to show off our pet hams
