Default January 7, 2007 updates

Hi everyone!

I just made some updates to the site. Rather than make you check the sticky, I'll re-post them right here:

-fixed some bugs in the hamstery feature
-removed the side advertisement from the main page
-widened the appearance of the site
-divided the profiles page for easier viewing
-updated the articleswith categorized browsing and text previews

Please note that if you have a hamstery advertisement, you may need to re-upload your hamstery logo to get it to show up on the ad. Your hamstery ad also now links to your profile.

Let me know if you encounter any bugs and I'll get 'em fixed!

Thanks.

Hey Smoo I was just raking through HC and have seen these changes. They make it much easier for getting around and very tidy - I like tidy :D

The screen on my computer looks much wider and the hamster central banner at the top of the screen sits approximately half way across from left to right (i.e. it doesn't fill the top of the screen within the white window background) if that makes any sense...???? Is that right - ???

I see the same thing only when viewing the forum and only when using Windows Internet Explorer. Smoo and I use Mozilla Firefox and everything looks fine under that browser. He's been working hard on HC, hes been at it all morning for about three hours straight! I will mention the problem in Explorer to him and I'm sure he will get around to fixing it once he's had ample time to rest is brain.

There are still some things I want to do aesthetics wise to make the site look more "together" (like fixing the logo width) But those changes will probably come over the next few days, depending on how Smoo feels.

Also if anyone wants to make a donation at mine and Smoo's request, just send me a PM and we will give you details on how to do so.

Smoo wrote on the main page: If you feel that Hamster Central has been useful to you and would like to give something back, SnuggleHam and I would greatly appreciate a small contribution of a dollar or two to help pay HC's hosting costs. Our web hosting expires at the end of January, but we actually found a new host who will cost quite a bit less, so we'll be able to host the site for a smaller amount of money.

Hey no rush - get that man a drink and let him put his feet up!

I missed the donation thing - was too busy inside HC and not read the front page - away to do that now.

Great stuff :D

Edit: just been to home page and logo is beautifully centralled - so its just in the forum itself....

Hi, suga!

Thanks for the info. I'll get that fixed in a bit. Going to relax for now

Internet Exploder is always a nuisance. The browser doesn't conform to standards and so it seems like there's anyways some sort of unintended result in IE whenever I do anything. Oh well!

Thanks again!

Hehe. Thanks for the nice comments!

I fixed the problem in Internet Explod... er, Internet Explorer where the logo wasn't centered on the forum pages. I don't know about The Internet, but at least Hamster Central shouldn't explode
