Default How do you prefer website navigation?

How do you prefer website navigation? Smoo and I have been discussing a possible change to the layout of HC again and were were wondering how the majority of people preferred to surf a website?

Right now you can see the navigation is found across the top of the page. Many websites have their navigation arranged out vertically on the left from top to bottom. An example of the left side navigation can be found here http://www.hamsters-uk.org/

Please cast you vote and give us your input.

I voted to have the columns down the left side, but as minicooper was saying, it`s fine as it is! Making a forum as user friendly as possible for members prevents confusion I think. I preferred the rehoming link in the old style too as sometimes the `Classifieds` section can be a bit unresponsive to anyone wanting an update on something being put up for sale unless they PM the seller?

The old style allowed people to post an interest in rehoming a hamster, or buying something that was advertised for sale or swap. It also allowed other members to see whether the original post was successful or ongoing?

But anyway, back to the original subject!

I prefer the forum as it is now, with the navigation at the top, as it means you don't have to roll down to access all the different sections, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion!

it depends how many links there will be
along the top is fine for the few we currently have
these coudl also be repeated at the bottom to save having to scroll back up to the top again to navigate elsewhere
If by putting them down the side it also further narrows the available text area then I vote we don't go down this route
on my widescreen monitor it leaves a large amount of watsed space down each side.

One of the things I wanted to do was widen the width of the whole website so the text areas wouldn't be so narrow. We tried something new here but I'm personally finding some changes can and should be made again.

Smoo and I are sort of planning and discussing, but there have not been any official plans made yet. So its up in the air, but Id like to see some changes soon. I think we are on the right track, but HC has more potential I think.

I think having the `links` running down the left side would allow the whole page to be used? Right now, the screen is `condensed` centrally with two green columns running down each side. To use this space more effectively and make the screen look wider, maybe doing this would do away with the green bars down the sides? Advertising space could run at the bottom of the screen?
