Its like dark sand? Orangey and some darker brown, I find lots in plastic tubs so when you bang it and it falls to a corner could be mistaken for sand. I assume it can be dormant or they lay so many as more dont hatch?
My offenders were tinea pellionella and white shouldered moth

I think I'll be boil washing into my retirement! As I think I got everything ill find a box or something with the dust or an empty case
