When I got my first dwarf, he started in a small ‘starter’ cage and then he got upgraded about a week later and he was quite happy. Just make sure you use the space effectively (e.g. upright wheel over saucer, small food bowl, toys that don’t take up the whole cage).

thanks. the ham that moved into the 75 gallon tank was actually euthanized a few weeks ago. i now have a hybrid dwarf in the tanks.
