Dear Hamster Central,

Thank you so much for your kind responses to my introduction post. We now have our little hamster, Valka, who is a Syrian. We've had her just four days and our first day didn't go as planned, as she was very keen to meet and jumped out of her cup and sat with my daughter. Which was lovely!

Now it is day 4 and she mostly sleeps until about midnight and so we aren't seeing much of her since this first encounter. Is this common for new hamsters, and if so, is it something that might gradually change or is it something one tries to 'tame' or change? In general we know not to wake a hamster, but also we know some people like to try to establish routines. Is there anything we should look out for at this early stage?
