Default Re: Spaying and Neutering Hamsters?

Routine spay and neuter should not be done in hamsters. As cypher has said, these are incredibly small animals who are quite delicate and as such should only have surgery for genuine medical needs such as pyometra. I don't think I've ever heard of testicular cancer on the forum with males, but that isn't to say it would absolutely never happen - what would be much more likely is a serious fight from pair housing resulting in an injury requiring neutering which is easy enough to avoid by never housing multiple hamsters together!
