I have an 8-inch comfort wheel. I have noticed that she likes to take the toilet paper I give her and put it on the bottom of the wheel and then pee on it. Maybe she isn't using her wheel cause she prefers it as a toilet?

Sometimes hamsters are tempted out if you turn the lights off in the room she's in. When I brought my current hammy home, the only way I could see her at all was by getting up at odd times in the night (quite easy for insomniac me!) but she does come out more now, although it's still quite late. It's still early days, so bear with it, and please do keep us updated; we'd like to hear how she goes on.
I haven't thought of that! Next time I feed her I will try. And I will try waking up in the middle of the night, too. Yesterday, I noticed she came out for 5 minutes during the day for some food. I tried talking to her, but she ran away. I will continue trying to tame her during the day.
