They can get greasy with scent like that underneath and it doesn't look severe. Try bathing it a couple of times a day with some saline solution. Put a pint of boiled water with a teaspoon of salt in it in the fridge to cool then use a cotton ball to wipe it. Some stuff may ooze out but keep cleaning it anyway and see if it improves in a few days. See a vet if you feel it is swollen or oozing pus or very red.
