I've never really noticed much of a pee smell with my male hybrids tbh, not enough to make the cage smelly.
Are you sure it's pee? He could be scent marking his new home a lot.If that's the case it will probably tend to smell less with time.
Is he drinking normally? Diabetic hams pee does smell different & stronger but you would most likely notice him drinking a lot if that were the issue.
