Re: Fitch VS Kaytee
I've used Fitch for years - its great bedding and good value. I've tried Kaytee and find it is similar - slightly different texture and the Kaytee is slightly softer but I still prefer the Fitch which seems more sort of "normal" - can't explain - the Kaytee texture is different. Kaytee works out more expensive depending how much you need and use. Both Fitch and Kaytee are dust-free. I don't like Carefresh - it's a bit like Fitch but I find it dusty and some hamsters have seemed to be allergic to it. It's also a lot more processed.
Fitch is just recycled food grade paper. I am not sure if Kaytee is paper or cellulose. Carefresh is cellulose (hence a lot more processing). I'm also allergic to hemp bedding.
What I like about Fitch? It's loose in the bag, easy to tip out into a cage and just spread out. Doesn't smell of anything. Hamsters seem to like it. It holds tunnels.
