I think it’s quite difficult and also not all wood is safe. You can but vine branches from Rodipet that have been sandblasted and sterilised. I found though that they often have some sharp sections/ indentations and the size wasn’t quite right so I stopped bothering. One thing that is really nice - and useful - fii I r a natural setting are the large cork logs- the texture is interesting for them to climb over, they make a nice big tunnel and can work well as a ramp next to a platform as well. Rodipet sell those too and theirs are a good short length for a hamster cage. Otherwise reptile stores sell burn logs but they can be huge and need a good wash as well.
