Re: Possibly too large of a cage?
If you have any of the old bedding, that might help him settle as he's probably somewhat stressed after being moved into a new cage that smells nothing like him. Some hams do just like do climb though, so if other behaviours point him to being happy, you may just need to make sure there's enough padding so if he falls he will be okay.
