I can't agree with what you are planning to do. I also can't agree with how you treated your previously poorly hamster and that you don't even know what happened to it. Hamsters are not disposable things just to be returned and exchanged when something is wrong with them. I do understand that this is a common practice in the USA but it doesn't mean it is right.
I really hope you change your mind re breeding.
