Exclamation New hamster chewing corners of his tank!

I got my male syrian 5 days ago and last night he began chewing on the glue/silicone in the corners of his tank! He’s been doing it all night and it’s driving me nuts. He has a house, bendy bridge and large wheel which he all uses. His tank is 100x40cm and in one side he has 20 cm deep bedding for him to burrow and if I add any more he’ll be able to reach the lid of the cage and possibly get out that way.
What he does is he digs into his burrow all the way down to the same corner each time and just starts chewing the corner. It’s very frustrating and I’ve tried to keep him busy by scatter feeding and talking to him which works for ten minutes or so before he starts chewing again. He’s also not comfortable with me touching him or the things in his enclosure so I would have a very hard time covering the corner he’s biting especially cause it’s under so much bedding.

Please if you have any advise!
