I would feel quite flattered to get so much attention from my hamsters who usually ignore me.

What happens when you talk to him, stroke him? Does he stop bar chewing after getting your attention?

Hamsters like Whimzee dog chews. You could give him one when he chews the bars to keep him occupied.
