While hamsters are solitary and many don't like the company of their own kind, it's not uncommon for a hamster to enjoy and love interacting and spending time with their owner. Niko will pace down the one side of his enclosure (closest to me) while I open the door and hops onto my hand and will often refuse to go back in his cage afterwards. That being said, my first ham, a Syrian, preferred to stay in his home.
