I'd say 1/4" bar spacing is the BIGGEST spacing for robos. Basically if you can easily squeeze the tip of your little finger between the bars, so can your robo.

For mesh maybe 1/4" X 1/4" ? Would insect mesh be ok? Definitely won't be able to get through that
