Use the cutting disc for plastic. I always draw out the cutting line with a permanent marker then score the plastic on No 10 setting and then cut on No 15 setting. I then file the edges smooth with a file attachment. You could drill holes in the plastic and attach to the wire with cable ties. Once in place, its easy to cut off the excess length with a wire cutter.

Sorry if you know all that already. I'm not trying to sound patronising but i'm one of these grannys who are more likely to be seen with a drill than a whisk.
