Default Re: Wheel for Multi Duna

Flying saucer wheels are not a good idea. They don't allow a natural running style for hamsters(even if the manufacturers often give that myth as a reason to buy them), and they are very easy to fly off of. The flying saucers also have comparatively less actual running space where a hamster can actually run somewhat straight(still not fully straight), which is essentially a quarter of the wheel diameter in comparison to roughly half the diameter with proper upright wheels.

Silent Spinner wheels are notoriously poor quality so negative experience doesn't surprise me with those. They often don't even spin or are not silent, and they pose a serious safety risk to small pets since the design of them allows them to split in the center where the colored and white plastic pieces meet. This is true of any Silent Spinner style wheel including the imitations of them.

Silent Runners on the other hand are wonderful as they remain silent and are an upright wheel. They're enclosed on the front which can often make hamsters feel more secure while running, and while they do come in very limited color options and cost a lot more than most wheels they are quite possibly our best choice at the moment.

Comfort Wheels can work in a pinch but they are very noisy. They're an upright wheel which is absolutely necessary for hamsters and other small pets that would need a wheel, and they're often fairly affordable compared to the Silent Runner. They come in a decent variety of colors but you typically won't be able to choose the color if you order one online. The open metal stands aren't quite as safe as the solid metal stands of the Silent Runner, but you could probably get creative making a stand to go under the wheel along with something to cover the other open bits of the stand for safety.
