I have never had a hamster bar chew in this cage. Newt did briefly when he didn't have a wheel, as a baby. Once he had his wheel he stopped. It is more common in cages that are too small. It's not impossible to bar chew with 7mm bars but harder. However there are some hamsters who are just chewers. Even the Eco Habitat has wood corner parts to chew! But they can be covered over with metal strips. If you're happy with a tank style and don't have space for another detolf then there is the Eco Habitat (on Zooplus), the Marrakesch (on Zooplus - limited height for a wheel but manageable), and the Maxi Duna Multy. I love the maxi duna multy but ultimately felt it was like a Barney without the additional bar height! It is a lovely tank style cage though.
