Default Re: Timmy Escaped Under A Door

Wow! I'm glad I saw this! Have been contemplating how to create a play area for our hammies that doesn't depend on me cleaning the tub daily. We've been throwing blankets on the bed or bringing them into the yard but neither is perfect and without potential issues. We had the idea to build a loft in the attic for a quiet space and a place for kids to sleep if we have company and they need to give up their bedrooms for a day or so. (My husband is not aware of what I now plan to use loft for) Loft would be above the master closets when we reno our attic into a master bedroom this year. Our house isn't big but loft would still be a sizeable area for hammies to run. We have absolutely zilcho funds to do this so working on a refinance so it's possible. Gave up our bedroom so all 3 kids could have their own rooms. So this loft...was originally planning to keep a mattress up there with a stack of blankets and some baskets of games? toys? brain teasers? books? etc. so that it isn't bare and can be a place for us (or kids) to retreat. Scratch that! I'll now keep a rug up there (have to look into non-toxic) with pillows and blankets....and baskets...full of hamster toys! Now just need to figure out a way to hamster proof edge side. Had thought I'd create a fold-up barrier that can be positioned and taken down as needed but after reading your post, I need something way more substantial and solid!
