But I think he's a really timid boy and he doesn't come out much so my mom and i have been taking the hideout out of the cage (after making a little noise to wake him up a bit) at around 7:30 to give him treats and get him to smell me but its been a week and the most he does is smell my hand and take the treat although once he put his hand on mine while he ate a piece of strawberry out of my hand (haven't tried to pet him but my mom has a few times and he jumps a bit sometimes.) Any tips on how to speed this up or make more progress would be really appreciated (sorry about how long this is I'm a bit of a rambler)
Take it slow......let him set the pace. I had a hard time being patient, but it payed off.
