Default Re: Trying to Climb Walls of Bin

Eh, just had a brief read on hairless hammies after looking at your Hamilton. Ria is right, a paper based substrate would be better for hairless hammies as wood shavings are more abrasive.

Looks like he has a really beautiful bin cage, but I totally agree with Luna and Ria that giving Hamilton lots of huge hidey places would help, as he may feel kinda exposed now in the empty space.

Also, I noticed that you drilled some holes at the side of the bin (near the top) for ventilation. Would it be possible for you to look into meshing the entire sides of the bin cage instead? Hamsters would appreciate fresh air flowing in at "hamster-level", the air doesn't really flow that well at the bottom part of the cage otherwise. These storage boxes are lovely things (I have one too), but they do get very stuffy at the bottom, especially if you close the lid. Maybe he's just trying to get to the holes to breathe in more fresh air.
