Why don't you simply put a small saucer underneath the bottle? That's what i do. My Syrian's drips a couple of times when i put it in its holder because its plastic. My dwarf has a test tube type glass one from Trixie which doesn't drip at all but works fine.
They both have a water bowl as well and use both.
