Re: Im a first time Robo hamster owner and I am freaking out
Hi, as Ria already said unfortunately the pet shops more often than not sell totally inappropriate cages. Sometimes the hamsters can escape through the tubes in these cages, so if possible I would be removing them. I hope you can return the cage and get a refund and upgrade your hamsters cage ASAP. I would be looking at an anything bigger than 70 x 40 cm for a Robo, a bin cage may be a good option. How big is his wheel? I think it needs to be minimum 6.5 inches for a robo. Also a few items like a bendy bridge or a cork log may help, alternatively look around your home and see what you can recycle from packaging . i.e. cardboard boxes or toilet rolls to make hidey holes or tunnels. I am sure once you get your hamster in an appropriate sized cages with a few things for enrichment your hamsters behaviour will change. Goodluck and any more questions, just ask and I am sure people on here will help.
