Default Re: Looking for ideas

Schwartzie, yes i can increase the depth of the substrate which is currently 6-7 in and yes we can increase the height of the tank with a raised roof. This option is still there if needed.

Gordon can burrow and make tunnels now but he needs to discover his natural instincts first. For all I know, he may be so used to a confined space that he may be scared of space.

I work with people who have been institutionalised hence have real difficulty adapting to "normality".

Gordon hasn't left his sand pit yet so I will wait and see what happens next and take it from there.

Also, Henry has never burrowed. Another thing I've noticed was that there was no change in Henry's behaviour after I had upgraded his cage to a bigger one. He displayed no stress behaviour in either cage.

I believe that not every hamster needs or wants a huge cage but that they will tell us if and when they do. Hamsters are individuals like humans and I for myself live happily in a small, colourful and cosy house.
