My personal opinion:
Just leave them alone (only providing them with fresh food and water with minimal disturbance) until the babies have weaned at about 3 or 4 weeks old. Frail babies may need another week on top of that. After that, the babies should be separated from the mother. A move might cause the mother to eat her babies, so I'd suggest separation after they are weaned.
Of course, I may be quite wrong as I am inexperienced too, so hopefully more people can give better opinions.
