That cage size is the bare minimum in Germany and achieving that does not in any way guarantee your hamster will be happy. Many of them now agree that the Syrian minimum should be increased to 120x50cm especially for a female Syrian, since they are often harder to please. Some have not been entirely satisfied until their cage is over 1 square metre and loaded with enrichment.

If an upgrade is out of the question then I’d try adding more enrichment as it is lacking a little. More items such as cork tunnels and grapevine you can get off zooplus and they go down brilliantly. More bedding for burrowing too, even if it means raising the bedding barrier height. The bar chewing is dangerous so I would probably attempt to cover some of the bars, but in all honesty it is unlikely to stop and in those situations they need to be moved into a cage without bars before she damages her teeth or worse.
