I can't remember the exact difference, but there was a nutritional difference between the brown and golden ones. I personally used brown linseeds(flax in the US, same thing) and they definitely don't hurt to add anyways, just a good pinch sprinkled somewhere seems to do the trick. My Syrian seemed to really enjoy them too, despite being such a small seed. I'd honestly consider them a must have supplement for hamsters!
