Any "winter white" or "Russian dwarf" hamster from a pet store is practically guaranteed to be a hybrid, same with shelters etc. Unless there's a pedigree and you get one from an actual breeder, they're almost definitely going to be a hybrid. That being said, hybrids can still make wonderful pets!
