Huh! That makes me a mean hamster keeper then, lol.

Does your hamster sleep in a glass jar and why do you want to look at her? To check she's alright? Personally, can't see a problem if you don't wake her without a good reason.

I cut my hamster's house roof into two sections and leave the one that covers the nest undisturbed but take the other one off in the morning to check he's alright but offer a small leaf of something nice at the same time, a nose appears very quickly from the nest to take the leaf but the rest of the hamster stays in the nest. I think that's a good enough reason to take part of the roof off briefly and i don't feel mean doing it.
