I personally have the Detolf. I have a cambells dwarf though, and have never had a syrian in there. If your hammy likes chewing wood, I would go for the Detolf. If you're going to build a lid with mesh in the Detolf, he/she could chew that. The detolf is quite short, so the biggest wheel you could fit in there would probably be an 11". To do this you will have to remove a lot of the bedding or put most of it to one side.
Due to this I might have gone for the Eco habitat since it's bigger aswell, but I have no experience with that cage, so I don't know the cons.
