Your hamster does need continuous floorspace of at least 70cm by 40cm floor area in one unit. Even then add on sections often don't work well for them.
I agree the Hamsterville is the better option, unless you can hack the unit a bit more and make one larger area
Even then, ventilation is a very important aspect.
