Default Re: urgent help needed with hole in cage!

Rowan,

I seem to have exactly the same problem with my hamster, also in the Barney cage.

I have put lemon juice and olive oil around the area that the hole is so she doesn't create any further damage. Also, I have put a large bendy bridge in front of the hole and secured it by pressing heavy rocks and her multi-chamber house (which is quite heavy) against it. So far, this seems to have worked however I shall update.

I am considering going for a glass cage (either an aquarium or the detolf) but I too am a student and money is tight until my next paycheck. Maybe you could ask for it as an early birthday or Christmas present?

With regard to glue, you could try mixing flour and water in a saucepan (1:1 ratio), heating until it bubbles and then using whilst it is hot. You can secure some plexiglass or normal glass and hopefully, this should stick. It is entirely pet safe but may not be strong enough, however, it is worth a try!

Wishing you all the best x
